I teach 5th grade students in a small farming community in Iowa. I am looking for another school to pair with and share ideas in a global community. We have some of the richest farming ground in the world. Our farmers have some of the most technologically advanced farming techniques available. We live 25 minutes from the John Deere Harvester headquarters and a lot of research and development occurs in our area. We would have a lot to share with other communities around the world.

Here are the areas I want to address with this project:

-create vodcast (video podcasts) of how the economy is driven by physical features of your region, And how technology is used to enhance production.
-learn about different cultures and gain a new perspective about a different corner of the world.

Teaching students to share business techniques to help improve production will give students an insight on exactly what a global society means. Students will also gain the perspective of problem solving through another’s eyes.

Topic of Project:
Vodcasting for Understanding
Curriculum of Project:
Social Studies and Science: study of regions and resources.
Age of Students:
10-11
Tools for the Project:
We use ilife to create vodcast, and .mac account for hosting. Open to new technology!
